Bill met with our Club Board at 11 and then made a presentation at our following meeting. He emphasized a number of points:
  • Madison will host a One Rotary Summit at the Warner Park Conference Center
  • He'd like to double the number of Rotaract Clubs in the District ... Clubs that focus on young people in post-secondary education. He said Tech Colleges were a prime target.
  • What's next after Polio Plus? We can't declare total victory yet ... we won't know for sure the war is over for another three years or so -- until no signs of the disease are found in environmental field samples.
  • The Gates Foundation continues to be a major supporter of our Polio Plus outreach ... matching Rotary-raised funds two to one. He knows Rotary gets things done.
  • A broader Rotary goal is clean water, sanitation, and hygiene globally in 12 years.
  • He highlighted how each member should feel genuine pride in Rotary's accomplishments locally and around the world.
  • The District has a new member promotion. For a Club that gains four members and keeps them four months, the District will contribute $1,000 to the Club for those members to create a project.
