Along with Taxes and Immigration, Health Care, or rather Health Insurance, has been in the news a ton over the past couple of years. Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act in March of 2010, no other topic has stirred such deep passion among the citizens of Wisconsin and the country. Scott will give us a brief history of the ACA (also known as ObamaCare), its present state, and what he sees for the future.

Under the provisions of the Rotary Foundation’s program, club’s desiring to participate in the grant program must be certified.  Part of that certification process is attendance at a Rotary Grant Management Seminar (GMS). District 6250 will offer three Grant Management Seminars:

The first two sessions will be identical in terms of the content that will be delivered.  The third session will be a refresher GMS for anyone that has attended a GMS in the last year.  Clubs need only have one representation at one of the three sessions however it is recommended that the club president-elect and foundation chair both attend the GMS meeting.

At the GMS you will learn:
How to successfully manage a Rotary Foundation grant.
Foundation stewardship expectations
How to prepare clubs to implement the memorandum of understanding
How to qualify your club to receive Rotary Foundation grant funds.

“Our service goes beyond simply filling prescriptions. We review each patient’s list of medications and work with the providers to set up an effective medication-related plan for the best outcomes.” Tolson-Eveans explained that the typical pharmacy client uses about five medications. “Uninsured patients may lack a consistent primary care provider who knows all a patient’s current prescriptions. Pharmacists can be a point of coordination to prevent harmful medication interactions or redundancies.” The pharmacy offers basic health monitoring: blood pressure measurements, weight, and asthma control; and lifestyle counseling for tobacco cessation and healthy food choices.

The morning is the annual DTTS – District Team Training Seminar – where District committees come together to report on what they are doing now and what their plans are for the future.  You will hear reports from all District committees like Youth Programs, Visioning, Foundation, Membership and Friendship Exchange just to name a few.  This will help update the Board and generate awareness on all that is happening in our District and the resources available to help.  With so much change in Rotary and the District in the last few years, this is certain to be time well spent.

The rules of improv can be practical, powerful and fun “tools” for generating ideas, unlocking frozen brains, and giving a lift to our teams and workplaces. While this session will be active and fun, it is not about comedy. People will spend some time getting to know each other, but there will be an emphasis on using improv to address real issues that teams would identify from their organization.
